We use cookies on our website

Cookies are small files that are downloaded to your device when you visit a website. These cookies are recognized by the originating website on each subsequent visit, or by another website that recognizes the cookie.

None of our cookies contain any personally identifiable information.

The cookies we use allow us to remember your preferences, allow you to navigate between pages efficiently and ensure that any adverts you see online are relevant to you and your interests. They also allow a website to recognize what device you are using and continually improve your experience on the website. Cookies play an important role. Without them, using the web would be a much more frustrating experience.

If you would like more information, please read our full Cookie Policy here .

If you have questions about our privacy or cookies policy, you can send us an email to info@travaround.co.uk or a letter to our office, 112A Deedes Street Airdrie, Scotland ML6 9AF.

At Travaround we are committed to protecting and respecting your privacy.

This policy explains when and why we collect personal information about people who visit our website, how we use it and the conditions under which we may share it with others and how we keep it secure.

We may update this policy from time to time, so please check this page from time to time to ensure you are happy with any changes.

Our privacy promises

  • We will be transparent about the information we collect and what we will do with it.
  • We will use the information you provide to us for the purposes described in our Privacy Policy, including providing you with the services you have requested and improving your experience with Travaround.
  • We will use the information to understand you better so we can provide you with relevant offers.
  • If you tell us that you do not want to receive marketing messages, we will stop sending them. Of course, we will continue to send you important information related to a product or service you have purchased to keep you informed about your reservation and travel itinerary.
  • We will implement measures to protect your information and keep it secure.
  • We will respect your data protection rights and try to give you control over your own information.

Any personal information processed by Travaround in connection with this Privacy Policy is controlled by us, which is considered the "data controller" of your personal information under European Union and United Kingdom data protection laws. Any service provider, such as a hotel or car rental company, will also be a separate "data controller." You can access the privacy policies of those providers directly from their own web pages.

Personal information used and collected by Travaround in connection with this Privacy Policy may be stored in data centers and servers within the United Kingdom and the European Union.

If you have booked a package (e.g. a tour plus accommodation/or other service) through a travel agency, your travel agent will send your details (the details that you have consented to for your travel agent to pass on to us) to Travaround to make your reservation. Travaround shares your name (and contact telephone number in some cases) with our third party suppliers. This allows us to offer a high level of service and tour. Without this, we would not be able to fulfill your travel reservation and quality of service. In these circumstances, we are a "data processor". Travaround suppliers will only use your data to fulfill the service we are booking.

When we do so, we are regulated by the General Data Protection Regulation which applies throughout the European Union and the United Kingdom and we are responsible as the "controller" of that personal information for the purposes of those laws.

The personal information we collect and use

Personal information could be defined as details that identify you or could be used to identify you, such as your name and contact details, your travel reservations and purchase history. It may also include information about how you use our websites and mobile applications.

In the course of purchasing a product from Travaround, we collect the following personal information when you provide it to us (whether by telephone, website, email or other contact methods):

  • Names of people booking tours or products, payment details, home address, email address, telephone number and country of residence.
  • Additional details, e.g. Information about your health, if you have a medical condition that may affect your tour, such as wheelchair or oxygen assistance, which is not "sensitive data" but may imply or suggest information about your religion, health or other information .
  • Ad-hoc information about, for example, special occasions or other special requests.
  • Correspondence, including complaints, to assist in relation to travel arrangements and to handle any complaints.

How we use your personal information?

We use your personal information:

  • To fulfill your travel plans and provide the services you have requested.
  • Manage the tour, check in and boarding process.
  • To send you updates and communications about the tour.
  • Provide services tailored to your needs and treat you in a more personal way.
  • Carry out market analysis and studies.
  • To carry out marketing actions and keep you informed of Travaround products and services. When we collect information directly from you, we ask if you want to "opt-in" to our marketing communications. If you decide that you no longer wish to see marketing communications from us, you can change your mind at any time, each marketing communication we send by email will have an unsubscribe option allowing you to stop receiving further marketing emails. Please note that if you tell us that you do not want us to send you further marketing communications, you will still receive service communications that are necessary, for example to confirm your reservation or to provide you with an update on your travel reservation.
  • To improve our websites, products and services.
  • For management and administration purposes.

Who we share your personal information with?

We share your name (and, in some cases, your contact telephone number) with our third-party suppliers only for the purpose of your tour.

This data exchange allows Travaround to find appropriate suppliers and allows us to offer a high level of service and tour. Without this, we would not be able to fulfill your travel reservation and quality of service.

We will share personal information with law enforcement or other authorities if required to do so by applicable law.

We will share with credit and charge card companies, credit reference agencies and fraud detection service providers to process payments and (where necessary) to carry out fraud detection.

We will not share your personal information with any other third parties.

What information you must provide and the legal basis for its use?

You are required to provide your name, home address, contact telephone number, email address and payment details so that we can process your booking. We will inform you at the time of booking of the details we request from you to fulfill your reservation.

Travaround will only process your personal information where we have a legal basis to do so. The legal basis will depend on the reason or reasons why Travaround collects and needs to use your information. Under EU and UK data protection laws, in almost all cases the legal basis will be one or more of the following:

  • Because we need to use your information so that we can process your booking, fulfill your travel plans and otherwise perform the contract we have with you.
  • Because it is in the legitimate interest of Travaround as a tour operator to use your personal information to operate and improve our business.
  • Because Travaround needs to use your personal information to comply with a legal obligation.
  • To protect your vital interests or those of another person.
  • Because you have given your consent for Travaround to use your information for a specific purpose.

How long your personal information will be kept?

We will retain your information for as long as we need it for the purpose for which it is being processed. For example, when you book a tour with us, we will retain information relating to your booking, so that we can fulfill any specific travel plans you have made, and thereafter we will retain the information for a period to enable us to handle or respond to comments or questions related to the reservation and for accounting purposes for the period required by applicable tax laws. Information may also be retained so that we can continue to improve your experience with us and to ensure that you receive the rewards that are owed to you as a loyal customer.

We will actively review the information we hold and securely delete it, or in some cases anonymize it, when there is no longer a legal, business or customer need to retain it.

Cookies and other tracking software allow us to improve our services, provide you with more relevant content, and analyze how visitors use our website. For example, we use software to monitor customer traffic patterns and website usage to help us develop website structure and design to improve the experience of our website visitors. This software does not allow us to collect any personal data.
